12/March/2022 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Incident # 22-01906 - An alert 10 year old helped save a Jones Swamp residence Saturday morning 12-March. At 13:06, the boy noticed smoke coming from a home across the street in the 1200 block of Jones Swamp Road. He told his grandfather who called 9-1-1. Fire-Rescue units from Station 26 arrived about three minutes later to find smoke coming from the doublewide mobile home. Firefighters deployed one handline and entered the building through the rear door. They encountered fire in a utility room that had burned into the master bedroom. The fire had just begun to reach the attic space, but crews were able to stop the spread of the fire and saved the home. No one was in the residence when the fire occurred. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the two rooms which suffered substantial damage. The remainder of the home received smoke damage, but most personal items were saved. No injuries were reported. The fire appeared to have started in the utility room. 

Engine 18, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 18, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 18, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Asst. Chief Marty Stallings served as Incident Commander.
