03/April/2022 - MVC with Air Evac - "A" Shift

Incident # 22-02494 - A Walterboro man was critically injured in a single car MVC on Interstate 95 near the 61 mile marker northbound Sunday morning 03-April at 11:04. The Kia Soul was traveling north when it left the roadway and struck a tree causing heavy damage to the small car. There was approximately 1-1/2 feet of intrusion into the passenger side of the car. The driver was wearing a seatbelt, but received multiple life threatening injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics quickly treated his injuries at the scene, then transported him emergent to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center with additional personnel on board to assist with his care. CARE Flight was placed on standby at CMC. Fire-Rescue Medic 26 transferred him to the Flight Crew and he was flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. 

Engine 26, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Captain John Schnieder served as Incident Commander.
