Incident # 22-02534 - Four people were injured in a single vehicle MVC on Maple Ridge Road north of Weans Road Monday afternoon 04-April at 13:50. The vehicle was traveling south on Maple Ridge Rd when it left the roadway in a curve, struck two trees and overturned. An unrestrained adult male patient received a head injury and other traumatic injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics found the patient outside of the vehicle laying on the ground. He was treated at the scene and a medical helicopter was requested. A second Fire-Rescue ambulance was dispatched for the other three patients. Medic 26 transported the man to a field at the intersection of Maple Ridge Rd and Augusta Hwy. (SC Hwy 61) to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter. The patient was transferred to the Flight Crew, then flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The other three patients, an adult male, an adult female and a child, were transported in stable condition to Colleton Medical Center by Fire-Rescue Medic 1. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Engine 26, Tender 26, Medic 1, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Firefighter-EMT Ashley Ackerman served as Incident Commander.
