18-June-2022 - Multi-vehicle MVC - "B" Shift

Incident # 22-04724 - A multi-vehicle MVC on I-95 injured six people and blocked the northbound lanes near mile marker 64 for about 45 minutes, Saturday afternoon 18-June at 17:15. Several northbound vehicles collided causing two to enter the wooded median and one to over-turn on the right shoulder. The accident blocked both northbound lanes. Fire-Rescue responded with three ambulances. Two people were transported by Fire-Rescue Medic 26 to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. Two patients were transported to Colleton Medical Center and two patients were treated at the scene, but denied ambulance transport to a hospital. Crews and wrecker companies cleared debris from the roadway and removed the vehicles to open one lane after nearly 45 minutes. Both lanes were opened about 1-1/2 hours later. Traffic backed up over 10 miles, with many vehicles detouring through Walterboro to Jefferies Hwy. (US Hwy 15). An accident at Canadys Crossroads also blocked Jefferies Hwy. for about 30 minutes until the cars could be removed. No one was seriously injured in the Jefferies Hwy accident but it caused a disruption in north bound travel. 

Engine 5, Engine 26, Medic 1, Medic 13, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief SCott Feather served as Incident Commander.
