19/June/2022 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Incident # 22-04765 - Quick action by a homeowner helped save his residence during an afternoon structure fire Sunday 19-June. At 15:59, 9-1-1 received a report of a residential structure fire in the 100 block of Short Ln. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived to find smoke coming from the singlewide mobile home. Crews entered the structure through the rear door with one handline and quickly knocked down the remaining fire, containing it to the bedroom. The homeowner had used a garden hose and sprayed water through the window keeping the flames down until Fire-Rescue arrived. His efforts kept the fire from spreading. The fire started from electrical wires in the wall and spread to an adjacent bed. The wall received substantial damage and the bed was also burned. The bed was removed through the open window. The remainder of the room received smoke damage and the home also received smoke damage, but the mobile home and almost all personal items were saved. There were no reported injuries during the incident. Fire units were on the scene for approx one hour. 

Engine 1, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender, 26, Tender 27, Medic 1, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Captain Jack Wimberly served as Incident Commander.
