13/August/2022 - Stabbing/Shooting Incident - "A" Shift

Incident # 22-06358 - Four people were injured in an incident at 252 East Washington Street, Signature Ventures, Saturday evening 13-August. At 20:58, 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting and stabbing at the location. As additional information was obtained, it was determined that four people were hurt. Two additional Fire-Rescue ambulances were assigned to the response. It was reported that some type of reception was being held at the building. An adult male was stabbed multiple times at the Washington Street location. Immediately after, gunshots occurred inside the establishment. Another adult male was struck in the wrist and a 12 year old male was hit by three bullets. An adult female was reportedly hit by shrapnel and received several non-life threatening injuries. The stabbing victim exited the building on to Washington Street where Sheriff's Deputies found him in the middle of the street. A large group exited the rear of the establishment and ran across an empty lot to the Walterboro Police Department at 242 Hampton Street. The three other victims were on Hampton Street. Battalion 1, Medic 1 and Medic 26 responded to Hampton Street, while Car 105, Car 112 and Medic 19 responded to Washington Street. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the victims on Hampton Street. The child was transported by Medic 1 emergent to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter. He was flown to the Shawn Jenkins Children's Trauma Center at MUSC. The adult male shooting victim was transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center by Fire-Rescue Medic 26. On Washington Street, a Sheriff's Deputy was working to control the bleeding on the stabbing victim. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived and continued to work to stabilize the man who was bleeding profusely from multiple stab wounds to the neck, chest and abdomen. A medical helicopter was requested for him as well, but the ETA was extended. Medic 19 arrived and the patient was rapidly transported in critical condition to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. Firefighter-Paramedics administered IV fluids and Whole Blood during the transport. Additional personnel assisted with his care during the transport. The female patient left the scene and was driven to the Trauma Center at MUSC by private car. The Walterboro Police Department is investigating the incident.
