This week, eight Colleton County Fire-Rescue divers completed a Public Safety Diver course. The intensive course teaches divers how to mitigate in-water emergencies, control scenes, interview witnesses, evaluate water conditions, and determine the number of divers and type of equipment needed for the emergency. Students are also taught proper techniques to safely and efficiently find items and/or persons under water. Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Brent Dalton instructed the class.
