Incident # 22-08360 - A small child was seriously injured in a four wheeler accident Thursday afternoon 27-October at 16:08. A parent brought the child to meet with Firefighter-Paramedics near the intersection of Cottageville Hwy. (US Hwy 17-A) and Rehoboth Road (SC Hwy. 651). Medic 9's crew quickly evaluated and treated the child and requested a medical helicopter. She was transported to a field next to Cottageville Elementary School to meet with CARE Flight. The patient was transferred to the Flight Crew, then flown to the Shawn Jenkins Children's Trauma Center at MUSC. in Charleston.
Engine 9, Medic 9, Battalion 1 and Car 104 responded. Firefighter Dewayne Jacques Jr. served as Incident Commander.
