Incident # 22-08413 - An adult male received a gunshot wound to the leg in an incident that occurred at another location. At 13:56 Saturday 29-October, a Sheriff's Deputy was flagged down at the intersection of Wichman St and Washington St. He discovered an adult male in a vehicle that had been shot and radioed for medical assistance. The vehicle had been hit by a bullet and it appeared the bullet ricocheted, striking the man in the side and then the leg. Law Enforcement Officers controlled the bleeding until Firefighter-Paramedics arrived. The man was treated at the scene, then transported in Fire-Rescue Medic 1 in stable condition to the ED at Colleton Medical Center. The intersection was closed for about an hour while WPD investigated the shooting. The Walterboro Police Department is investigating the incident.
Medic 1, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander.
