Incident # 22-009073 - An Ohio man was killed in a two vehicle, high speed MVC at the intersection of ACE Basin Parkway (US Hwy 17) and Hope Plantation Lane in the Jacksonboro Community Wednesday morning 23-November at 05:23. The man's 2014 Ford Econoline van was traveling northbound on ACE Basin Parkway at a high rate of speed when it collided with a stopped semi-truck that was turning into a gas station. The van received heavy damage in the collision which trapped the driver in the wreckage. The semi-truck also received substantial damage to the trailer. The truck driver sustained multiple non-life threatening injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics treated both patients at the scene and quickly determined the driver of the van was deceased. A hydraulic spreader and cutter were used to remove the driver's door and a telescoping Ram was used to displace the dash. ACE Basin Parkway was down to one lane for several hours causing traffic to back up in both directions. Once the victim was extricated and Law Enforcement completed their investigation, a second lane was opened around 07:30. The accident was cleared about 3-1/2 hours after it occurred. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The Sheriff's Office assisted with traffic control.
