Incident # 22-09670 - A Ruffin home was destroyed in an afternoon fire in the 900 block of Patriot Lane Tuesday 13-December. At 12:10, 9-1-1 received a third party call advising a home at the end of Patriot Lane was on fire. Engine 18 arrived to find the singlewide mobile had already collapsed. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two handlines to extinguish the fire. A winch from Battalion 1 was used to remove the metal roof to allow Firefighters to overhaul the burning debris underneath the roof. The occupant was able to safely escape the home. The fire started from a space heater. Crews were on the scene for several hours. Water supply was conducted using Tenders. The Red Cross is assisting the occupant.
Engine 7, Engine 18, Tender 4, Tender 7, Tender 18, Tender 26, Battalion 1, Medic 7, Medic 18, Battalion 1 and Car 104 responded. Firefighter-EMT Paul Bagley served as Incident Commander.
