17/January/2023 - Woods/Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Incident # 23-00595 - An unattended trash pile fire spread by light winds, burned approx. 1-1/2 acres of grass and woods, before reaching the neighbor's property. The fire then damaged and destroyed a wooden privacy fence, several lawn mowers and equipment and damaged two storage buildings. At 14:00 Station # 19 was dispatched to the woods fire. While enroute, additional callers to 9-1-1 reported a building on fire. The incident was upgraded to a structure fire, with three additional stations added to the response. Engine 19 responded to the original location in the 100 block of Robin Drive. Engine 1 and Tender 1 were sent to addresses at the end of Pratt Court. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to combat the fires at several locations. The Forestry Commission was also requested and responded. Crews extinguished the fence and stopped the flames from destroying a workshop and storage building. Several pieces of equipment and lawn mowers were destroyed. Fire units were on the scene for two hours. The fire was reportedly started by children burning a trash pile at a residence on Robin Drive.  

Engine 1, Engine 19, Engine 27, Tender 1, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 27, Brush 27, Medic 1, Medic 9, Medic 19 , Battalion 1, Car 111, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Captain KC Campbell served as Incident Commander.
