23/January/2023 - MVC with Air Evac - "B" Shift

Incident # 23-00595 - Three people were injured, one severely, in a single vehicle roll-over accident in the 100 block of Jones Swamp Road, Monday afternoon 23-January at 13:01. A southbound Toyota Avalon lost control after clearing a curve. The vehicle entered the ditch, then struck a driveway culvert causing the car to flip over. An unrestrained female was ejected through the back window. Initial calls to 9-1-1 indicated multiple patients, so two additional Fire-Rescue ambulances were assigned to the incident. Medic 26 arrived to find the road blocked by the car and debris. The female was found in the roadway suffering from multiple traumatic injuries, including head and facial trauma. She was quickly treated at the scene, then transported emergent by Medic 26 to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter. She was transferred to the flight crew and flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. A male passenger also received traumatic injuries and was transported by Medic 19 to Trident Medical Center. The restrained driver received non-life threatening injuries. He was transported by Medic 18 to Colleton Medical Center. The roadway was blocked for two hours while the SC Hwy Patrol conducted their investigation of the crash. 

Engine 26, Medic 18, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 111, Car 112, Car 114 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
