Colleton County Council recently recognized Chief Barry McRoy for his service and dedication to the community. By proclamation, March 20, 2023 will be officially known as "Chief Barry McRoy Day'' in Colleton County. Chief McRoy has faithfully served this community since 1991 and is a true firefighters' Chief. Chief McRoy is "unofficially" the most active member in our department. He is known to be at his desk one minute and zipping out the door to respond to a call for service the next minute. Shortly after, he may be found walking the halls at the ER checking on patients transported by CCFR and offering them warm blankets. He has even been known to occasionally sing songs of comfort to those in need. On behalf of the entire department we are proud to call you our Chief!
