08/March/2023 - Large Animal Rescue Drill - "A" Shift Fire-Rescue in conjunction with Animal Services, conducted a simulated large animal rescue at the Animal Services facility on Poor Farm Road Wednesday morning 08-March. The drill was part of the Statewide Exercise with participating agencies throughout the state conducting various exercises and training drills for their responders. This scenario involved a horse that had fallen into a water filled ditch. Responders dealt with the injured animal and had a veterinarian on site to assist. Animal Services Officers responded with newly acquired rescue equipment for large animals and a team effort of Fire-Rescue personnel and Animal Services personnel, including Director Laura Clark, rescued the large animal from the ditch. Twenty-five responders participated in the training exercise and learned about the new equipment. A 55 gallon, water filled drum was used to simulate the injured horse. |
