The County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated Thursday as part of the Statewide Exercise. The acticaition had many of the Counties partners participate in a simulated Cat 4 hurricane and a nuclear incident in the midlands which closed several major evacuation routes in the State. The Exercise involved most Counties and many State agencies and was part of the Statewide Exercise which involved the entire week. Colleton County Fire-Rescue's Emergency Management Division, operated the EOC all day Thursday as part of the Exercise. It was an excellent review of hurricane procedures for local responders. Hurricane season begins on 01-June. The communications portion of the Exercise will take place Saturday, testing the County's and State Communications and backup systems.
