21/March/2023 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Incident # 23-02041 - A fire in a workshop caused substantial damage to the metal building, tools, equipment and two vehicles Tuesday afternoon 21-March at 14:01. The shop owner advised a heater was left on in the building and spread to nearby materials and flammable liquids stored in the building. He noticed smoke coming from the building and attempted to extinguish the fire before calling 9-1-1. Engine 10 arrived to find heavy smoke conditions in the building. Two handlines were deployed to the structure. Firefighter-Paramedics cut a portion of the garage door and entered the building to extinguish the fire. Leaves and straw on the roof were also ignited and had to be extinguished. The fire burned through the wall on the rear of the building igniting grass, brush and some materials stored in the back of the shop.Two vehicles inside also received damage. They were being repaired at the time of the fire. Crews were on the scene for several hours. 

Engine 10, Engine 18, Tender 4, Tender 15, Tender 18, Tender 90, Medic 13, Medic 18, Battalion 1, Car 101, Car 105, Car 107, Car 111 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
