30/March/2023 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Incident # 23-02309 - A Roadside community family was displaced after a fire in their home caused heavy damage to the building Thursday afternoon 30-March at 18:13. Fire-Rescue units arrived at the rural area at the end of Gopher Lane to find the single story block residential structure approximately 25% involved with flames visible from the roof in the rear of the home. The homeowner advised he was outside when a neighbor alerted him to the fire. He attempted to extinguish the fire, receiving smoke inhalation. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man at the scene, then transported him to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Fire-Rescue Medic 26. Other crews deployed multiple handlines from Engine 8 to extinguish the fire. The dwelling suffered substantial damage. Water supply was conducted with Tenders. Firefighters were on the scene for over three hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

Engine 1, Engine 8, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 8, Tender 26, Tender 29, Medic 1, Medic 18,  Medic 26, Car 111, Car 112, Car 118 and Car 119 responded. Captain KC Campbell served as Incident Commander.
