Incident # 23-02423 - Fire-Rescue responded to Interstate 95 near the 68 mile marker SB as a mutual aid request for Dorchester County Tuesday morning 04-April at 00:10. The accident was just north of the Edisto River at the Colleton/Dorchester County line. A large motorhome collided with a tractor trailer causing a large debris field. The motorhome turned sideways on the highway blocking the southbound lanes. Diesel fuel covered the roadway. There were reported multiple injuries and multiple cars were on both shoulders. Dorchester County Fire and Dorchester County EMS were both on the scene. The motorhome received heavy damage to the front and passenger side. Dorchester EMS treated the injured persons. Colleton units responded north in the southbound lanes to reach the scene. Southbound traffic was backed up for several miles. Engine 26 deployed one handline to the motorhome. Colleton Medic 26 did not transport any patients. Colleton units cleared the scene after about 45 minutes. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the MVC.
