Incident # 23-02644 - A 10:37 Wednesday evening 12-April, Fire-Rescue and Walterboro Police units responded to a residence in the 300 block of Chaplin St for an adult male who was injured in a sword attack. WPD Officers cleared the scene and advised the patient was bleeding profusely from a head wound. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man for several deep lacerations to the head which required multiple dressings. Crews administered IV solutions and TXA to compensate for the heavy bleeding. The man was transported emergent to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, with additional Firefighter-Paramedics on board to assist with his care. The man had been involved in an altercation where the assailant used a samurai style sword to strike the victim. Walterboro Police Officers are investigating the incident.
Medic 1, Battalion 1, Car 111 and Car 118 responded. Chief McRoy served as Incident Commander.
