11/June/2023 - High Speed MVC - "C" Shift

Incident # 23-04205 - Fire-Rescue responded to a single vehicle, high speed MVC on Interstate 95 near the 55 mile marker northbound, Sunday afternoon 11-June at 16:10. The accident occurred during a severe thunderstorm and was one of a dozen MVCs that happened during a five hour period Sunday afternoon. Three people were injured, one severely. Medic 1 and Medic 26 responded and treated all of the patients at the scene. One rear seat passenger was sitting in the area which struck a large pine tree. He suffered a head injury. No medical helicopters could fly due to the poor weather conditions. Firefighter-Paramedics transported the man emergent in Medic 1 to the Trauma Center Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The other two patients were transported to Colleton Medical Center. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The other crashes and a car fire near the Town Smoaks kept Firefighters busy Sunday. 

Engine 1, Medic 1, Medic 26 and Car 111 responded. Captain Jack Wimberly served as Incident Commander.
