15/June/2023 - Camper Fire - "A" Shift Incident # 23-04317 - A camper, used as a residence, suffered heavy damage in a late afternoon fire on Thursday 15-June at 20:09. The incident occurred in the 2600 block of Sniders Hwy (SC Hwy 63), approximately 1 mile west of Walterboro. Engine 1 arrived to find the camper well involved. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two handlines to the camper and cut a hole in the side to access the fire. The camper suffered substantial damage. It appeared the fire may have spread from an unattended debris pile fire near the camper. No one was at home when the fire occurred. Fire-Rescue units were on the scene for about 1-1/2 hours. Engine 1, Engine 27, Tender 1, Tender 18, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 1, Medic 26, C112 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O'Quinn served as Incident Commander. |
