Colleton County Fire-Rescue

06/17/2023

Fire-Rescue was again awarded the Fire Safe Community Designation by the Fire Safe South Carolina  through the SC Fire Marshal's Office. The County Fire-Rescue Department was recognized for its efforts in 2022 to develop a community risk reduction plan for the Colleton County Fire District. Communities designated under the program continuously work to reduce fire related injuries and property damage in our state, thus decreasing the risks for residents and firefighters. Less than 25% of SC Fire Depts have received this designation. Captain Roger Johnston, Deputy Fire Marshal, accepted the award on behalf of Fire-Rescue at the SC Firefighter's Conference held at Myrtle Beach Saturday, 17-June.

Residents are reminded that Fire-Rescue provides and installs free smoke alarms for residents in the unincorporated areas and the Towns of Cottageville, Lodge, Smoaks and Williams. Residents wishing to receive free smoke alarms can contact Fire-Rescue Headquarters at (843) 539-1960.
