Incident # 23-04789 - A two year old male was severely injured after being mauled by several pit bulls at a residence in the 100 block of Riva Ridge Lane near Ions Cross Crossroads. According to witnesses, the dogs entered the yard and attacked the child dragging him across the yard. The child suffered multiple lacerations. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the boy at the scene, then transported him emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 9 to the Shawn Jenkins Children's Trauma Center at MUSC. The Colleton County Sheriff's Office and Animal Services are investigating the incident.
Engine 9, Medic 9, Battalion 1 and Car 111 responded. Firefighter-EMT Brad Welch served as Incident Commander.
