Incident # 23-05282 - Three teenagers were seriously injured in a single vehicle high speed MVC on Augusta Hwy. (SC Hwy 61) near Missiontown Road Tuesday evening 18-July at 21:13. Another motorist reported the car in the ditch. Medic 19 and Engine 19 arrived to find a Kia Soul in the woods against a tree. The small car suffered heavy front end damage. Two unrestrained 15 yr old patients suffered multiple traumatic injuries. The partially restrained 18 yr old driver also suffered injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics requested two additional Fire-Rescue ambulances. The patients were all treated at the scene prior to transport. Medic 19 and Medic 26 transported the 15 yr old patients to the Shawn Jenkins Children's Trauma Center at MUSC in Charlston. Medic 9 transported the 18 yr old driver to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Engine 19, Medic 9, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 110 and Car 111 responded. Captain Ethan Shieder served as Incident Commander.
