26/July/2023 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Incident # 23-05497 - At 01:53, Wednesday morning 26-July, 9-1-1 began receiving reports from passing motorists that a home was on fire in the 2600 block of Sniders Hwy. approximately 1 mile west of I-95. The residence was located well off of the roadway down a long poorly maintained dirt driveway. The flames could be seen above the trees. Engine 1 arrived minutes later and had trouble accessing the scene. They located a second driveway, which was also in poor condition, but was able to reach the residence. The double wide mobile home was fully involved and the roof had already collapsed. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to the building and used a deck gun to knock down the flames. No one was at home and a man arrived a short time later advising the occupants had left two weeks prior. There was no power to the building, but a generator and drop cords were found near the home. Firefighters were on the scene for three hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Water supply was conducted with Tenders. Two Fire Trucks were damaged due to the condition of the driveway. 

Engine 1, Engine 18, Tender 1, Tender 8, Tender 18, Tender 26, Medic 1, Medic 18, Battalion 1, Car 111 and Car 114 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
