25/December/2023 - Camper Fire - "A" Shift
Incident # 23-09804 - A camper used as a residence at Green Acres Campground, 396 Campground Road was destroyed in an early morning fire Christmas day, 25-December. At 04:56, neighbors alerted 9-1-1 to the fire when they were awakened by the noise. Engine 1 arrived to find the camper fully involved with flames impending on the camper next to it. Crews quickly knocked down the fire which destroyed the camper and damaged the one next to it. No one was at home when the fire occurred and the next door neighbor was able to escape without injury, but his home was damaged by the heat and flames. The cause of the fire is suspicious in origin and is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the fire is urged to contact the Colleton County Sheriff's Office at (843) 549-2211, Fire-Rescue at (843) 539-1960 or the SLED Arson Hotline at 800-92-ARSON.
Engine 1, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 18, Tender 26, Medic 1, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 111 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief SCott O'Quinn served as Incident Commander.
