Incident # 24-00590 - Two mobile homes were destroyed in an early morning fire in the 100 block of Michelle Lane south of Cottageville, Monday morning 22-January. At 00:51, a resident who lives off of Bama Rd, called 9-1-1 reporting a building on fire on Michelle Lane. She advised she could see flames through the woods. Engine 9 arrived to find two singlewide mobile homes fully involved. The roof on each had already collapsed and the surrounding woods were on fire. Firefighters had problems reaching the buildings, which were located well off of the road. Crews deployed two hand lines to extinguish the fire. Firefighter-Paramedics were able to prevent the woods fire from reaching a home on the adjacent property. The mobile homes were not occupied. They were positioned next to one another and had a common roof installed over them. Fire units were on the scene for three hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Engine 9, Engine 36, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 27, Tender 36, Medic 9, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 111 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
