20/March/2024 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

Incident # 24-02195 - Firefighter-Paramedics saved a Green Pond home Wednesday afternoon 20-March. At 12:25 the resident called 9-1-1 to report a storage building on fire. Engine 6 arrived at 247 Springhill Road to find the small storage building fully involved. The storage building was located next to the doublewide mobile home. The flames spread to the mobile home. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one hand line to the buildings and quickly knocked down the flames on the mobile home. They then worked on the storage building which contained a heavy fire load. Crews had the fire under control in about 15 minutes, but were on the scene for 1-1/2 hours performing overhaul. The fire originated from an unattended outdoor debris pile fire. Light winds spread the fire through the yard to the storage building, which then spread to the mobile home. The family was able to safely evacuate the home. One Firefighter-Paramedic received a leg injury after an aggressive canine attacked him at the scene. He required medical treatment at a medical facility. Crews saved the home and the family was not displaced. The storage building and its contents were destroyed. The mobile home suffered damage to the south end of the building, but the flames did not enter the interior.

Engine 6. Engine 13, Tender 1, Tender 6, Tender 13, Medic 6, Medic 13, Battalion 1, Car 111 and Animal Services responded. Engineer-Paramedic Will Worrell served as Incident Commander.
