Incident # 24-04310 - A two vehicle MVC on Jefferies Hwy (US Hwy 15) just south of Academy Road sent two people to the hospital, one in critical condition. The accident occurred Tuesday morning 04-June at 08:21. Witnesses advised a northbound Honda Accord, turned into the path of a southbound Chevrolet pickup truck. The car spun around and then drove back across all five lanes of Jefferies Hwy before stopping in the woods on the northbound side of the highway. The female driver suffered multiple trauma injuries, was found unconscious and in cardiac arrest. She was removed from the vehicle with full spinal precautions and resuscitated at the scene. Firefighter-Paramedics transported her emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 19 to Colleton Medical Center in critical condition. A second Fire-Rescue ambulance was called for the driver of the pickup truck. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Colleton Medical Center by Medic 26. Traffic in the area was down to two lanes for about 30 minutes. The accident is being investigated by the SC Hwy Patrol.
