Incident # 24-04812 - An adult male received multiple injuries after the semi truck he was driving left Interstate 95 at the McLeod overpass. The southbound truck and fuel trailer drove down the embankment, struck the guard rail, then crossed McLeod Road and struck the guardrail on the other side. The truck then drove up the south embankment. The truck received heavy damage. An off-duty Hendersville NC Firefighter also traveling on I-95 stopped to render aid to the man. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later and continued medical treatment. Fortunately, the trailer was new and was not carrying a load. McLeod Road was partially blocked due to the accident. The driver was transported emergent to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston by Fire-Rescue Medic 26. The SC Highway Patrol and State Transport Police are investigating the MVC.
Engine 26, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 111 responded. Firefighter-EMT Andrew McCaskill served as Incident Commander.
