Incident # 24-05056 - Fire-Rescue responded to a 115 acre woods fire on Big Hill Road off of Ruffin Road Wednesday afternoon 03-July at 18:23. Engine 26 arrived to find the fast moving woods fire and requested additional units and the Forestry Commission. Firefighters positioned apparatus to protect homes on Ruffin Road while other units worked to cut off the head of the fire. The Forestry Commission responded with four tractors and two supervisors. The tractors were able to cut off the flames and contain the fire. No damage was reported to any homes. Units were on the scene well into the night.
Engine 18, Engine 26, Tender 18, Tender 26, Medic 18, Medic 26, Brush 31 and Battalion 1 responded. Captain Robert Gregory served as Incident Commander.
