Fire-Rescue units have been assisting the Forestry Commission with the large woods fire off of Big Hill Road in the Foster's Bay area east of Ruffin. The fire was originally dispatched on 03-July involving approximately 115 acres. County Firefighters and Forestry units were able to contain the fire, but due to dry conditions, the fire has jumped the fire lines in several places expanding to approximately 150 acres. The Forestry Commission has a large contingent of equipment and personnel at the site including tractors, brush units and fire tracks from around the region. Fire-Rescue has supplied a Tender on site each day to refill the Forestry Units for nearly two weeks. The stubborn fire is expected to continue until the area receives rain. No structures have been damaged.
