25/July/2024 - MVC with Entrapment - "A" Shift

Incident # 24-05689 - At 07:24 Thursday morning 25-July, a Honda Accord traveling southbound on I-95, swerved to avoid a tire in the road. The driver lost control, then struck a guard rail and entered the wooden median. The adult female driver suffered non-life threatening injuries, but was trapped in the car due to the damage. Firefighter-Paramedics used a chainsaw to cut away debris to gain access to the driver's side of the car. They then used Holmatro Pentheon Rescue Tools to remove the driver's door. The driver was extricated onto a scoop stretcher and carried up the embankment to Medic 26. She received treatment at the scene and was transported to Colleton Medical Center for further care. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. I-95 southbound was down to one lane for about 30 minutes. 

Engine 26, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Car 110, Car 111, Car 112, Car 118 and Car 119 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
