20/August/2024 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

Incident # 24-06469 - At 11:14 on Tuesday 20-Aug, a neighbor spotted a fire behind a residence in the 100 block of Dahlia Street. Flames were above the roof and a column of black smoke could be seen two miles from the scene due to the burning fiberglass tub. Callers to 9-1-1 reported two canines inside the home. Engine 26 arrived to find a hot tub behind the residence well involved with the vinyl siding on the back of the home melted. Several windows had broken. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one 1-3/4 handline to the back of the home and quickly cooled the structure, before extinguishing the hot tub. Crews were able to access the home and ensure the two dogs were okay. No interior damage was noted. Most of the vinyl siding on the back of the house was damaged and the hot tub was destroyed. The fire possibly started from cigarettes left in a container on the side of the hot tub. No injuries were reported.

Engine 1, Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 1, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 107, Car 111 and Car 115 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O'Quinn served as Incident Commander.
