Incident # 24-06589 - Three people were injured in a single vehicle roll-over MVC in the 12000 block of Cottageville Hwy (US Hwy. 17-A) Saturday afternoon 24-August. At 18:23 a southbound SUV left the roadway and flipped over three times, trapping the occupants. Two adult females received multiple traumatic injuries. A 1 year old male, who was safely secured in a child seat, received only minor injuries. It was reported that the driver may have suffered a medical emergency just prior to the crash. The passenger attempted to steer the vehicle to safety without success. Firefighter-Paramedics found the car upright, well off the road. Crews used Holmatro Rescue Tools to extricate the two females. One additional Fire-Rescue ambulance was assigned to the incident. Both adults were transported to the Trauma Center at MUSC and the child was transported to Shawn Jenkins Children's Trauma Center at MUSC. Traffic in the area was blocked for about an hour. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the MVC.
Engine 9, Medic 9, Medic 19, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 105, Car 111 and Car 118 responded. Firefighter DJ Jacques served as Incident Commander.
