31/September/2024 - Fatal Shooting Incident - "C" Shift Incident # 24-06768 - Two people were shot, one fatally at a residence in the 100 block of Singleton Street , Saturday afternoon 31-August at 17:19. An adult female received a life threatening wound to the lower torso and an adult male suffered multiple wounds. Walterboro Police Officers and Sheriff's Deputies arrived quickly and found both patients in the front yard. The officers began caring for the injured parties which included bleeding control and CPR for the male, who was found unconscious and not breathing. Two Fire-Rescue ambulances were initially dispatched for the gunshot victims, but a third ambulance was assigned when an adult female at the scene suffered a medical emergency. Crews treated all three patients on scene. The male patient was transported emergent in Fire Rescue Medic 19 to Colleton Medical Center, where the ED staff worked diligently to resuscitate him. A local surgeon responded to the ED as well. Additional Firefighter-Paramedics were onboard to assist with his care. The female patient was transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 1 to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the CARE Flight medical helicopter. Additional personnel assisted enroute with her care. She was critical and her condition deteriorated enroute. The patient received whole blood and was flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, where she went to emergency surgery. Medic 26 responded for the third patient and she was transported to Colleton Medical Center. Unfortunately the male patient did not survive his injuries. The incident is being investigated by the Walterboro Police Dept. Medic 1, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 111 and Car 118 responded. Chief McRoy served as Incident Commander. |
