Incident # 24-07198 - A nine year old girl was shot at a residence in the 800 block of Buffalo Lane Sunday afternoon. Sheriff's Deputies and Fire-Rescue units were dispatched at 17.51. The child's mother advised responders that the child was inside the home when the house was struck by bullets during a possible domestic dispute.  The child was critically injured, receiving wounds to the arm and upper torso. She attempted to transport the child to the hospital by car when she met Sheriff's Deputies about a block away on Sunshine Lane. The Deputies provided care to the child and controlled her profuse external bleeding prior to the arrival of Firefighter-Paramedics. Fire-Rescue Medic 19 transported her emergent to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center, where C.A.R.E. Flight was awaiting their arrival. Two additional Firefighter Paramedics assisted with her care enroute to the helicopter. She was transferred to the Flightcrew, then flown to the Children's Trauma Center at Shawn Jenkins Hospital at MUSC in Charleston. Whole blood was administered enroute. She went to surgery shortly after arrival at MUSC. The Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. No other injuries were reported.

Engine 19, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 111 responded. Battalion Chief Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
