Incident # 24-07903 - An adult male was transported to a Trauma Center following an accident in the 300 block of Phillips Road, Saturday evening 05-October. At 18:44, 9-1-1 received several reports of a passenger car leaving the roadway and was overturned. The driver was out of the car and suffered injuries. Engine and Medic 19 arrived to find the car on its side with heavy damage. The westbound car had left the roadway, jumped a ditch and struck a pickup truck parked in a yard. The vehicle then struck a power pole, breaking the pole. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man at the scene. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries and a head injury. He was transported emergent to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston with additional personnel on board to assist with his care. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Engine 19, Medic 19 and Car 101 responded. Firefighter-EMT Brad Welch served as Incident Commander.
