10/October/2024 - Auto vs Bicycle with Air Evac - "A" Shift

Incident # 24-08046 - An adult male was critically injured when his bicycle was struck by a car in the 1200 block of Rivers Street at 19:42 Thursday evening 10-October. The man was traveling southbound on a dark section of the road when a southbound Volkswagen sedan collided with the bike. The man was wearing dark clothing and had no lights on the bicycle. He was ejected from the bike and found unconscious on the shoulder of the road. Firefighter-Paramedics quickly treated the man's multiple injuries at the scene and requested that a medical helicopter be placed on standby. He was transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 1 to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with CARE Flight. The man required advanced airway management prior to being flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. 

Engine 1, Medic 1, Battalion 1 and Car 101 responded. Captain Bryon Eadon served as Incident Commander.
