30/October/2024 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift Incident # 24-08683 - A 50x50 maintenance building was destroyed in an evening fire at 17857 Augusta Hwy (SC Hwy 61), Wednesday evening. At 20:41, 9-1-1 received several reports of the building being on fire. Engine 36 arrived to find the building had already collapsed. It was located well off of the roadway and the fire burned unnoticed for some time. The business performed repair work on appliances and had over 35 refrigerators and other units inside the building. Several hundred were located in the wooded area around the building. The fire spread into the nearby woods. Engine 19 layed 500 feet of 5 inch supply line down the narrow driveway. Engine 36 set up a Tender shuttle on Augusta Hwy to supply Engine 19. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines to extinguish the fire. Units were on the scene for three hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Engine 9, Engine 19, Engine 36, Tender 5, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 36, Medic 9, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 110 responded.
