30/October/2024 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Incident #24-08684 - A residential structure was heavily damaged in an evening fire Wednesday night 30-October at 22:01. While crews were working a business fire several miles away on Augusta Hwy, a family discovered their home was on fire in the 700 block of Mol Senia Ln in the Round O Community. The family smelled smoke and discovered flames burning in the roof above a utility room. Two adults and three children were able to safely exit the residence. Engine 9 cleared up from the Augusta Hwy fire and responded to the Mol Senia Lane fire. They arrived to find the doublewide mobile home with flames through the roof on the north end of the building. The fire had extended through the attic space, spreading about halfway through the building. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines and entered through the front door. They began pulling the ceiling in the center of the home to reach the fire in the attic space. They were able to stop the spread of the fire to the south end of the structure. They had to pull all of the ceilings in the north end to extinguish the fire. Most of the flames were contained in the attic space, which spared most of the belongings in the living space, however the home suffered extensive damage from smoke and water and is unlivable. The home had a metal roof installed over a shingle roof which hampered efforts to extinguish the fire. Portions of the metal roof had to be removed before the fire could be fully extinguished. Firefighters were on the scene for four hours. The fire appears to have been electrical in nature, starting in the area of the breaker box in a rear utility room.

Engine 1, Engine 9, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 6, Tender 26, Tender 27, Tender 34, Medic 1, Medic 9, Medic 26, Brush 27, Car 101, Car 105 and Car 118 responded. Deputy Chief David Greene served as Incident Commander.
