Fire-Rescue's Prevention Division, Fire-Rescue Facilities Staff, several volunteer firefighters and a roof contractor worked during January to renovate Station # 5, which was in need of desperate repairs. The Station 5 Volunteers moved into the building in the 1970s, and in 1992 received two new apparatus bays. Over the last month the building received a new roof, some structural repairs, new exterior metal siding and new exterior lighting. Performing most of the work in-house saved a substantial amount of money. The station's appearance looks much better and the personnel at Station # 5 are proud of the improvements. All of the repairs were completed without a disruption in service to the community. This makes coordination of repairs critical. In addition to providing the building with a more modern appearance, the building will be more energy efficient. Nice work everyone.
