23/March/2025 - Motorcycle MVC W Air Evac - "C" Shift Incident # 25-02399 - A Bluffton man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in the 5500 block of Charleston Hwy. (SC Hwy 64) Sunday afternoon 23-March at 14:52. Witnesses advised the east bound motorcycle lost control after attempting to avoid a collision with a turning vehicle. The motorcycle and driver slid several hundred feet. The Harley Davidson motorcycle stopped on the shoulder of the road and the driver was found lying in the roadway. Another person riding with him rendered aid and controlled bleeding before the arrival of Fire-Rescue. The man suffered multiple traumatic injuries and a head injury. He was not wearing a helmet. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man at the scene and requested a medical helicopter. Meducare 1 from Charleston responded and landed in a field next to the accident site. The man was transferred to the Flight Crew, then flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC. Charleston Hwy was blocked for about 40 minutes, then down to one lane for an hour while the SC Highway Patrol investigated the accident. Engine 19, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 104 responded. Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander. |
