14/May/2025 - Traumatic Arrest - "A" Shift Incident # 25-03841 - An adult female suffered critical injuries after a large tree limb fell and struck her in the head at a residence in the 600 block of Carn Street at 16:56 Wednesday afternoon 14-May. The woman was in a yard with a six year old child, when the tree limb fell approximately 45 feet and struck her on the head. The woman suffered a head injury and collapsed in the yard. The child was not injured. A Fire-Rescue ambulance was only blocks away when the incident was dispatched. Medic 26 arrived within minutes, finding the patient in cardiac arrest. Firefighter-Paramedics began CPR and advanced resuscitative measures. An additional Fire-Rescue ambulance, several other County Firefighter-Paramedics, as well as City Firefighters arrived to assist. The woman was transported emergent to Colleton Medical Center where pulses were regained. The patient was later flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center by CARE Flight. She is still in critical condition, but recovering at Trident. Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 111, Car 112, Car 118 and City Fire responded. Captain KC Campbell served as Incident Commander. |
