Incident # 25-05601 - An adult female was seriously injured in a two vehicle MVC at the intersection of Bells Hwy. (SC Hwy 64) and Upchurch Lane Thursday afternoon 17-July at 18:29. The woman was a front seat passenger in a Chevrolet Malibu that was struck in the passenger side by a Ford Transit van. The car received heavy damage. The woman suffered multiple traumatic injuries and a head injury. She was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics, then transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 26 to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter at their base in Walterboro. CARE Flight flew the patient to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu fled the scene prior to the arrival of Law Enforcement. Anyone with information concerning the driver is encouraged to contact the City Police at (843) 549-1811. The Walterboro Police Dept is investigating the crash.
