20/July/2025 - Shooting Incident w/Air Evac - "B" Shift Incident # 25-05677 - An adult male received a life threatening gunshot wound at a residence in the 100 block of Caterpillar Lane near Grubers Crossroads Sunday afternoon 20-July at 15:26. The patient received a single gunshot wound to the upper thigh that broke the femur. The man lost a good bit of blood from the injury. A Sheriff's Deputy arrived first and applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding. Initially responders were told the incident was a drive-by shooting, but it was later determined by Law Enforcement to be an accidental self-inflicted injury. The man was in critical condition. He was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics and a medical helicopter was requested. CARE Flight responded and landed in the front yard of a residence about one block from the scene. The patient was transferred to the Flight Crew, then flown to the Trauma Center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston. The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. Engine 9, Engine 36, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 111 and CARE Flight responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander. |
