Incident # 25-06786 - An adult male was severely injured when the Kawasaki motorcycle he was riding struck a dog in the 900 block of Ruffin Road Thursday evening 28-Aug at 18:11. The motorcycle was west bound on Ruffin Road when the dog exited a wooded area and entered the roadway. Following the collision, the motorcycle slid several hundred feet blocking the road.The driver was not wearing a helmet and suffered multiple traumatic injuries. The canine was killed. Bystanders provided assistance to the man until Firefighter-Paramedics arrived. He was quickly treated at the scene, then transported emergent to the Trauma Center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston. Ruffin Road was blocked for approximately 40 minutes. The accident is being investigated by the SC Hwy Patrol.
Engine 26, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 111 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic Micheal Sanders served as Incident Commander.
