14/October/2025 - Train Collision with Log Truck - "A" Shift Incident # 25-08103 - A northbound Amtrak train collided with the loaded log truck at a private crossing on Weiss Lane Tuesday morning 14-October at 08:51. The log truck pulled into the path of the train and was struck at the rear of the trailer. The trailer received heavy damage and many of the logs were displaced and damaged, sending debris along the tracks and blocking the small dirt road. The train's Engine received substantial damage, but the train remained on the tracks and safety stopped about 1/3 of a mile north of the collision. None of the 48 people and crew on the train were injured. Fortunately the truck driver did not sustain any injuries. Fire-Rescue assigned a great deal of resources to the incident, but most of the units were cancelled once it was determined no one was hurt. Rail traffic was stopped on the busy line for over an hour, but the eight unit passenger train was able to depart under its own power. Fire-Rescue units were on the scene for two hours. Engine 6, Medic 6, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, CARE Flight, Car 103, Car 105, Car 107, Car 111, Car 112, Car 115 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O'Quinn served as Incident Commander. |
