Incident # 25-08778 - Four fishermen were rescued on the Combahee River Tuesday morning 04-November. At 11:23, Beaufort County 9-1-1 received a report of a disabled boat approximately 2 miles south of Steel Bridge Landing (US Hwy 17) on the Comabee River. The report indicated the boat became disabled and was taking on water. Assets from Beaufort and Colleton Counties, as well as DNR Officers responded. Colleton County Fire-Rescue Marine 27 and Beaufort Water Search & Rescue R-2 put in at the landing and traveled to the location. Marine 27 brought the fishermen safely back to the landing, while Beaufort Water S&R was able to make temporary repairs to the boat and tow it back to the landing. The fisherman had life vests and a working cell phone which allowed them to call for help. The cell phone provided the coordinates so responders could quickly locate them. No one was injured during the incident.
Engine 6, Medic 6, Dive 1, Marine 27, Car 104, Car 107, Car 112, Battalion 1, Beaufort Water S&R, DNR and Sheldon Fire Department responded. Sheldon Fire served as Incident Command.
